Wet Polishing of Stainless Steel: ViwateQ® Technology for Maximum Hygiene and Low Roughness
In sectors such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, and the chemical industry, the surface condition is a matter of safety and production efficiency.
FK system - povrchové úpravy s.r.o. is launching a new wet polishing technology (ViwateQ® Finishing) into full operation as of 27 April 2026. This method brings fundamental improvements to stainless steel treatment: roughness as low as Ra 0.4 µm, elimination of bacteria, and a surface free of micro-cracks.
Traditional metal treatment methods often leave the surface with microscopic irregularities where dirt can accumulate and corrosion sites can form. Wet polishing (also known as aquablasting or wet blasting) addresses this issue using the power of water and a special abrasive that refines and deep-cleans the stainless steel surface.

Why is ViwateQ® the Standard for Modern Industry?
ViwateQ® technology is not merely an aesthetic finish. It is a process that fundamentally improves the surface integrity and cleanliness of stainless steel.
Key benefits of wet polishing:
• Extremely low roughness (Ra 0.4 to 0.8): We achieve a significantly smoother surface that meets the strictest hygienic limits and international standards.
• Superior hygiene and reduced bacterial adhesion: By removing micro-cracks and unifying the structure, biofilms and bacteria have no chance to adhere to the surface. This is critical for cleanliness in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
• Durability and easy maintenance: A smooth surface increases the mechanical and chemical resistance of the stainless steel and dramatically reduces the time and costs required for equipment sanitation.

Technical Capacities at FK system
At our facility, we operate a modern blasting booth equipped with two nozzles, dedicated exclusively to stainless steel, aluminium alloys, and non-ferrous metals. Thanks to the generous dimensions of the booth, we can process even large-scale assemblies.

When to Choose ViwateQ® Technology?
This technology is vital for you if you manufacture or operate equipment in the following areas:
• Food-grade tanks, mixers, and filling machines: Where surface smoothness with a roughness of Ra 0.4 to 0.8 ensures health safety and easy rinsing of raw material residues.
• Pharmaceutical equipment and piping systems: Where a micro-crack-free surface is required that is easy to sterilise, prevents contamination, and complies with the most stringent hygienic standards.
• Components for the energy and chemical industries: Where wet polishing increases the mechanical and chemical resistance of the stainless steel material, thereby extending its service life.
• Design and architectural elements: Where you require a perfectly unified, satin-matte appearance without traces of welding, grinding, or heat-affected zones.
